Aborlan is a class II municipality in the province of Palawan in Philippines. Palawan is the island province in the country located in the Mimaropa region, which is one of two regions of the Philippines having no land border with another region. Aborlan lies on the vast plain between the Sulu Sea and the mountains. Aborlan is politically subdivided into 19 barangays.

Located 69 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa City capital of the province, it is the only town in the province with an agricultural college that is called the Western Philippines University. The college has other branches but the main campus is in San Juan barangay in Aborlan.

The Western Philippines University is a state higher education institution that began as the Aborlan Farm Settlement School for the Tagbanuas, the indigenous community of Palawan in 1910. It became the Aborlan Agricultural High School in 1928 and the Palawan Regional Agricultural School in 1960.

It was renamed Palawan National School in 1962 and became the Palawan National Agricultural College. Its name was again changed to State Polytechnic College of Palawan in 199 Western Philippines University.
