Baler, a 4th class municipality in Aurora province of Philippines is the provincial capital with a population of 34,492. Situated in Eastern Central Luzon it faces the Pacific Ocean. The city is approximately 230 kilometers from Manila and is accessible by road via Pantabangan or Bongabon through the Sierra Madre mountain range.
Founded originally in 1609 by Franciscan missionaries, Baler became the capital town of Aurora in 19n.
The Aurora State College of Technology has its main campus located in Baler and is a public college in the Philippines. Providing technical and professional training in the sciences, arts, teacher education, agriculture, engineering and technology it offers short-term vocational courses. It also promotes research, advanced studies and academic leadership in earmarked areas of specialization.
Baler is the political and economic center of Aurora. It is the site of spectacular geographic formations and is situated on a vast plain at the mouth of Baler Bay, a contiguous segment of the Philippine Sea. Nine-foot high waves serve as Baler's tourist asset, attracting surfers. Tourist spots include Baler Church, Quezon Park, Baler Bay, Dicaloyungan Picnic Zone, Ermita Hill, Aniao Islets and the Cemento and Dicasalarin Beaches.
