Echague, a 1st class municipality town in the province of Isabela, in Philippines is politically subdivided into 64 barangays. Echague is the “Queen town of the South” located in south Isabela about 60 kilometers from Ilagan, the capital town. Echague is primarily an agricultural municipality cultivating basic crops like rice, corn, vegetables and root crops. Named in honor of the Spanish-General de Echague, Echague covered vast areas now occupied by the municipalities of Cordon, Santiago City, San Agustin, San Isidro, parts of San Mariano, Dinapigue and upstream as Maddela, Quirino Province.

The commercial areas in the municipality comprise of business district where the public market serves as the center of commercial activities. Echague is the seat of the Isabela State University and Echague Campus was formerly known as Echague Agricultural Forestry School.

It became a regional agricultural school and was then subsequently converted to a state college. It was renamed Isabela State College of Agriculture in 1972, and again in 1978 it was recreated as Isabela State College of Agriculture at Echague where its main campus is located.

The State University offers courses in Agricultural Sciences with research studies in Community Development, Institutional Development and Management, Occupational Education and also Public Administration.
