The University of the Philippines is the premier state institution of higher learning in Philippines. The University of the Philippines in Mindanao is the sixth unit of the University of the Philippines System, set up in 199ns.

Located in Mintal, Tugbok District, Davao City in Philippines, UP Mindanao comprises of three colleges - College of the Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics and School of Management. The University is committed to providing affordable quality education, scholarly research, and relevant extension services.

Offering programs in sciences and the arts the University inculcates zeal for academic excellence and creative thinking. In particular it opens its portals for marginalized and deserving candidates in Mindanao and neighboring regions.

Housed earlier in other buildings the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Management are now established entities. The educational disciplines are divided into the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics and School of Management.
