University of San Jose - Recoletos is a Catholic private university that was set up in 1947 in Cebu City in Philippines. The Cebu Province was identified by the Order of Augustinian Recollects to establish the Colegio de San Jose-Recoletos that grew to become an institution of higher learning.

As one of the excellent academic institutions in the Philippines, the university has three campuses. Two are located in different areas of metropolitan Cebu called the main campus and the Basak Campus. The third campus known as Balamban Campus is located in Arpili, a barangay in the Municipality of Balamban in Cebu Province.

The University has been conferred by the Commission on Higher Education with the singular privilege of complete autonomous status for meritorious achievement in higher education. It has been awarded for excellence in instruction as also for research and community extension services. The University maintains a tradition of integrity and fine reputation for educational service.
