The University of the Visayas is spread over eight campuses as a province-wide system of higher education as well as lower level laboratory schools. The Gullas Medical Center is located at Banilad, Mandaue City. The University of the VisayasMandaue Campus was earlier called Mandaue Academy. It is located in downtown Cambaro, Mandaue City.
The University currently offers studies in a range of medical sciences and nursing, and houses the Vicente Gullas Memorial Hospital, Gullas College of Medicine, UV College of Nursing, Gullas College of Dentistry, Tan Kim Ching Cancer Center and the up-coming Cosmetic Surgery Center besides offering other health-related courses.
The University of the Visayas College of Nursing was first established in 1974 through a Memorandum of Agreement between the University of the Visayas and Cebu Community Hospital. The administration of the University realized the increasing need for medical studies and medical graduates.
The administration approved the expansion and development of its institutional facilities. Gullas Memorial Hospital serves as a training-ground for students. The University attracts many students and its population is increasing every year.
