The Western Philippines University is a state higher education institution located at Aborlan, Palawan. WPU as it is called offers varied courses focusing primarily on agriculture and allied studies. The University commits itself to develop quality human resource and technologies for economic sustenance and development through relevant instruction, research, extension and production activities.
Founded in 1910 as a Farm Settlement School, WPU has grown over the years and was accredited in 1963. It is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippines as also by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). The University set in a rural backdrop is a public institution and does not have any religious affiliation.
The University offers regular semesters and also study-abroad and exchange programs. There are two year certificate/diploma courses as also associate degree courses along with Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees.
